Sunday Blogwhoring: Armistice Anxiety

by matttbastard

Desperately need a personal assistant to keep up with my rapidly expanding agenda. Rest assured I’d never be so intemperate an employer as the late Linda Stein, former manager of the Ramones, who was recently bludgeoned to death by her PA (Natavia don’t play that Naomi Campbell diva bullshit, y0!) Obviously, this is all wishful speculation on my part; before hiring anyone to manage my affairs I’d first need to secure an income stable enough to support myself financially, let alone an employee.

Love don’t pay the bills, y0–unless you own the publishing rights to Arthur Lee’s back catalogue.

Jena 6 Update: Keep Marching

by matttbastard

1413907353_a8717989e8.jpg

Click on the above image to join the ongoing Virtual March for the Jena 6 (if you haven’t already) and leave a link in comments to the site your picture is posted at. Pics will remain up until real justice (not the all-too-common Jim Crow variant) has finally been served. With Mychal Bell once again detained (out of spite apparent spite) and an increasingly overt racist pushback occurring, PurpleZoe is absolutely correct: “now more than ever we need to maintain our show of solidarity and then some.

Related: via Carmen D., after “pointed questioning” at a House Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday [update 10.18: “boycotted by most Republican members of the House panel” *cough*], U.S. Atty. Donald Washington finally admitted that the initial noose-hanging incident in Jena was actually a federal hate crime, but said “federal authorities opted not to prosecute the case because of the ages of the white youths involved.” Funny, age considerations didn’t stop ol’ DA Walters from (initially) charging all but one of the Jena 6 as adults with attempted second-degree murder, even though only Carwin Jones was an adult at the time. Apparently us neegros mature faster or something.

Jena 6 Update: Damn Kids Edition

The Smoking Gun:

A group of white Louisiana college students dressed in blackface and reenacted the “Jena 6” assault while a friend snapped photos and videotaped the staged attack, images that were later posted to a participant’s Facebook page.

[…]

“We were just playin n the mud and it got out of hand. I promise i’m not racist. i have just as many black friends as i do white. And i love them to death”

No fucking comment.

Via Carmen D.

Related: TSG has more on ‘Blackfacebook’, noting that “[c]ollege students in Texas, Connecticut, and South Carolina have previously posted similar racially charged images on Facebook.”
