A Few Items Worth Your Attention On This Snowy Sunday Morn

by matttbastard

Is much too chilly and inhospitable today in my neck of the woods to even think about venturing into the not-so-great outdoors. So, in lieu of going to church (snicker) or, more realistically, a greasy spoon for hangover mitigation, here are several worthy distractions that can be enjoyed from the comforts of home:

Sunday Blogwhoring: Armistice Anxiety

by matttbastard

Desperately need a personal assistant to keep up with my rapidly expanding agenda. Rest assured I’d never be so intemperate an employer as the late Linda Stein, former manager of the Ramones, who was recently bludgeoned to death by her PA (Natavia don’t play that Naomi Campbell diva bullshit, y0!) Obviously, this is all wishful speculation on my part; before hiring anyone to manage my affairs I’d first need to secure an income stable enough to support myself financially, let alone an employee.

Love don’t pay the bills, y0–unless you own the publishing rights to Arthur Lee’s back catalogue.

Journamalism At Its Finest

by matttbastard

x-posted @ Comments From Left Field

Newsflash: nuclear PR shill Patrick Moore (Co-founder of Greenpeace!) is a “popular environmentalist” the same way David Horowitz is a “staunch Marxist” or Joe Lieberman a “partisan Democrat.”

Which is to say, not in the fucking least.

I second Alison: please, for the love of God, enough with the slavering, credulous media greenwashing re: nuclear power. Because the prospect of this and this demands serious scrutiny, not lazy stenography.

Related: The Financial Post on how nuclear PR has helped transform a once-feared technology into an ‘environmentally friendly’ energy alternative, noting that market realities may ultimately render industry re-branding efforts irrelevant; David Fenton: fighting fire with fire.

(h/t Gristmill for some of the links re: greenwashing and nuclear shilling)
