The New New Civil Rights Movement

by matttbastard

Is truly inspiring to see so many conservatives take a firm stand against racism. Truly.

Update: Via Antonia, oppressed white male Bill Wolfrum is mad as hell and isn’t going to take it any more:

We must fight. Today, a white male child will be born into an oppressive society where the color of his skin will only be a great advantage, not an incomprehensibly powerful advantage. That child will see that there is now extra competition out there between himself and his dreams. That child will be born into a society that – while understanding his cultural values and belief systems – will no longer automatically fearfully submit to them. That child will be destined for a life of dreams and promises that will only very likely be fulfilled. The guarantee is now gone, and we must get it back.

As they say, read the whole damn thing.

  1. While it is a good thing that the Republicans as sliding down hill in popular support, as a matter of practise I fear large swings in public opinion such as the PEW study shows.

If it can swing so radically one way – it can easily move the other way. The back room boyz are still pulling the strings in the GOP (and I fear are not unknown to the Democrats) – and they do control a large part of the media.

Wolfrum has written an amusing farce … the he has identified the core of the GOP – or worse yet, a tendency in popular opinion.

  2. Everyone one of us will face a disadvantage or another as we go through life, and that’s just the way it is. Wolfrum’s hysterics are as sad as they hilarious, because they obscure so many real issues. And people will listen, because hysterics are easier to digest.

Must be nice, to live in that kind of simple little world where all your problems boil down to “BUT AM MALE AND WHITE AND OPPRESSED!!!!11!!eleventy”

  3. Hahahaha, lol, thanks for letting me know it’s satire. I regularly delete this kind of stuff over at my own blog, so it’s nice to know that at least some people don’t talk like that in earnest.

  4. hahaha yeah. Sadly the satire is more reasonable sounding than the actual wingnut quotes. Who could make up “Latino KKK” without thinking “you know, that’s a bit -broad-“?
